Saturday was another great day at cycle U. I'm amazed what a difference it makes riding 3 days a week in the fall. I haven't been outside on a bike, but still my legs feel much stronger (in class) each week. I found out Friday that the SU pool is open at 6 am for open water swim. I'm very excited. I was wondering if I'd get to swim this year. My workout schedule is coming together (slowly but sure). This is what it is looking like. M, W, F Swim. M, W, Sat Bike. Tues, Thurs run.

Great run

Today I had a great run on the treadmill. I felt really strong. Pace 3.5. 5 minute warm up, 25 minute run, 5 minute cooldown. I also learned that the pool is open for swim at 6am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday! Looks like I'll be swimming again. I'll have to drop my bike off at the office and then drive over to the pool - but that is ok.

Cycle U was amazing today. definitely the hardest workout we have had so far. Three 10 minute zone four time trials (at 90+ rpm). Followed by four spin$ (15 seconds pedaling as fast as you can). I've seen an amazing amount of improvement in the 4 weeks since we started! Today's cadence was 90 rpm for the time trials and I got up to 130 rpm on the spin$.

I'm not getting my runs in on a consistent basis. It looks like I need to run when I get home (on the days I don't make it to the gym in the am).

On another note, I've ordered a Seven Mudhoney S cyclocross bike. It should be a really good road bike with cyclocross drive train and cable routing. The reach is a little shorter than on my ID8 which I think will be good. I'm planning on racing cyclocross next fall. Cycle U has given me great hope! I have no doubt I'll be stronger this spring than I've ever been. I plan to race x-country in the spring and downhill in the summer (with some cross country thrown in).

Overall I'm doing well. I finally feel like I have my energy back after finishing the MBA. I'd like to be swimming - but SU dropped their masters swim. I can't do a 5am or 7am swim. So, I'll wait till January and then figure out how to get some swimming in. Not sure a Triathlon is in my future - but I do miss swimming. I really want to concentrate on my running this winter. Running will be crucial for cyclocross.
