tests

Cycle U:
Today at Cycle U was the end of the quarter test. I did really well. My 5 minute test was an average of 188 Watts and my 15 min test was an average of 165 Watts. This was up from the beginning of the quarter where my 5 minute was 135 Watts and my 15 minute was 124 Watts. My lungs were burning on the 5 minute test - for a minute or so, I thought I might not recover enough to do the 15 minute test. The best part of cycle U is the consistency of riding 3 times a week matched with measurable results.

Lungs:
I went to my primary physician to have my lungs checked out - I've been on a steroid inhaler since last spring's wonderful bout of Bronchitis. The good news is that my lungs are finally in a normal range! I'm dropping my dose in half (again - did this in summer) which will hopefully let me get weaned off the inhaler. I've only needed the inhaler at Cycle U when we are riding at level 4 and 5.

Foot
I sprained my foot last July and it hasn't recovered fully. When I was mountain biking this summer, every once in a while I'd step wrong on it and so I wasn't surprised that it wasn't fully healing. But, I haven't had any new foot "mis steps" in 12-14 weeks (since I've been off the mountain bike) and it still hasn't healed. So I went to my orthopedic doctor and he put me on prescription level Aleve and gave me a prescription for carbon fiber insoles. The insoles immediately seemed to help. So I'm taking Aleve for 2 weeks and hopefully my foot will heal. I'd like to be able to run at least a little - so I hope my foot will finally heal!
