Thumb update

I started PT for my thumb yesterday. It is sore, tight and difficult to move...and I'm thrilled to be starting the process of getting my movement back. Four weeks till I'm back on a real bike.

Cycle U is pretty amazing. I really like spinning on my own bike! Of course it is great to have a commitment to ride 3 x a week reguardless of the weather.

Cycle U

Started Cycle U last week. It feels good to have a riding commitment 3x a week during the fall, winter and spring. I also ordered a new bike this week. A cyclocross bike. I should have it about the time I get the brace off of my thumb and can ride a real bike. I'm hoping to race cyclocross next fall. It will be an all around bike. Descent road bike, light touring, and of course a cyclocross bike.

We did the fitness/power test on Saturday. I was really pleased. Not sure how my power compares to the world; but I kept a 89% MHR for the 15 minute test. I thought that was pretty good considering most of my riding this year has been downhill/freeride stuff.

I got back in the gym last week as well. I'm hoping to get a couple of good runs in each week.

Update

I haven't been doing much...unless you consider having surgery on my left hand...much? I ended the season early with surgery on September 24th. I'm off the bike till December 3rd. I start Cycle U next week. I injured my right foot early this summer; thus I'm just now getting back to running.I started back on the treadmill this morning. All and all, I'm doing well. I'm contemplating ordering a cyclecross bike (which is either a sign that I have some ambition or no common sense at all...hard to know which).

I took 3rd place overall in the Fluid Ride cup (even though I missed the last race). I'm now thinking about my goals for next year and winter training...no major insights yet...I'll keep you posted!
